Caregiving and Corporate
America: Ideas, Insights & Solutions
Ronald L.
Moore, FamilyCare America, Inc.
How is an
aging workforce and population impacting corporate
America? What can be done to bring attention to the
issues and costs of caregiving and how they affect the
workplace? Why has a problem of this magnitude been so
invisible to corporate leaders?
Ronald Moore will identify how the "age wave"
and caregiving phenomenon will create both opportunities
and potential threats for companies in virtually every
sector of industry. Moore pulls from his professional
expertise as well as his personal experiences in dealing
with the difficulties and dynamics of caring for aging
parents. His personal caregiving experience led him to
found FamilyCare America, Inc., a national
resource for caregivers, support organizations, and
companies that offer products and services to
caregivers.

Helping
Employees Cope with Care
Michelle Stone, Fannie Mae
& Louise Myers, IONA Senior Services
According
to Michelle Stone, Senior Manager of Fannie Mae's
Dependent Care Programs, nearly 30 percent of Fannie Mae
employees would have quit their jobs to care for elderly
relatives if an on-site eldercare consultant had not
been available. Stone manages Fannie Mae's Eldercare
Program, a model corporate partnership, with IONA Senior
Services, a community non-profit senior center that
provides professional, on-site consultants for Fannie
Mae
employees throughout the United States.
Stone is responsible for developing and maintaining
Fannie Mae's Eldercare website, coordinating Elderfairs
and distributing an innovative Elderkit developed with
IONA. Since inception of the program, nearly 17 percent
of Fannie Mae's Washington, DC-based employees have used
the service. Louise
Myers, Executive Director of IONA Senior Services and
co-creator of the Fannie Mae model, will join Stone in
presenting "Helping Employees Cope with Care."
Together they will illustrate how the IONA/Fannie Mae
model has increased worker retention and productivity,
reduced turnover costs, enhanced recruitment and
improved the overall health and wellness of
employees.

In
the Balance: Eldercare in the Context of Business
SST Communications - A Theatrical Training and
Development Program
The current number of working
people who are providing care for both their children
and their parents is unprecedented. While corporate
America has recognized the valuable role it can play in
the Work/Life issues of its employees and that an
investment in employees' lives can generate substantial
returns, the issue of eldercare has generated a
relatively small response in the corporate world.
SST Communications will give a one-hour theatrical
presentation that is a poignant yet humorous look at:
- The
impact caregiving has on employees and employers,
- How companies can be proactive in handling what is sure to become the
human resource issue of this decade,
- Outline strategies (personal and organizational) that can be used to ease the strain on America's
workforce, and
- Build a business case for addressing this issue, including data to formulate your return on investment.
SST
Communications is the leader in theatre-based learning. This promises
to be an engaging and illuminating event.
